It was close to Broadway -eateries and subway. I would only recommend hotel for someone looking for inexpensive but good location.
Too many stairs to climb as I had an injured knee. Hot water took a long time to come for shower.

New York Inn is situated very conveniently just a few minutes walk from Time Square, Broadway, Department stores and exciting shops. If you are interested in Art then the New York Inn is also just a 20 minute walk to Chelsea Art District. New York City offers many Hotels with various nr of Stars with different prices. If you really want to feel welcome then the New York Inn gives you this feeling. The staff are very lovely and all your questions regarding New York they can answer and give you touristic tips which only a local can give you.The breakfast which is included was sufficient. The best value which you can get in the heart of New York.
If you want a luxuious Hotel then the New York Inn is not the place to be but then you will need to pay a lot more.

The staff were very friendly. It is located close to the theatre district and shopping.
The rooms were small and there was no lift. When you have a room at 3rd floor, it became very difficult to climb the stairs.

The location and price
Clearly, physically, a work in progress. And there is much to do. But I felt safe all the time I was there and I had what I needed, which was the point. I wasn't looking for the Ritz, so this was a terrific choice. Will I go back? Yes.

The hotel's location and the staff's friendliness. They were very helpful in everything, from giving directions to helping print bus tickets. Also, the room had a big plasma TV!
The bathroom, which was very very small (both the toilet as well as the shower). Also, since my room was faced to 8th Avenue and the hotel has poor insulation, there was a lot of traffic noice at all time (yes, even nights!).

The staff were courteous and very helpful. They tried to may our stay as comfortable as possible. They are hamstrung by the fact that this is an old hotel. There are no lifts and the common areas are very narrow and smelly! They need to change the carpeting and get rid of the pungent smell. Some amount of major refurbishing and renovation will need to be done. The staff and the location are the great advantages of the hotel.
The infrastructure is poor - no lifts, smelly common areas, narrow passages, no proper arrangement for breakfast. Breakfast is a subway sandwich and a coffee facilitated by a tie up with Subway next door. A breakfast of cereal, juice, croissant, coffee would be nice in the morning ensuite. All this was made up by the sheer location of the hotel. The prices for the facilities offered is quite high. A 15% reduction in the tariff is called for.

The location is great.
The pictures are much prettier than the reality. The hotel is very old and doesn´t have elevators. There should be a big warning about that for costumers.

Was 20 mins walk from my meetings
This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in in many, many years, and I travel in many difficult parts of the world. - The price was over $350/night (big meetings week in NYC). - The entire facility was dirty and in disrepair. - My room smelled of smoke (as did my clothes the next morning). - My bed and pillow were lumpy. - The metal drain cover in the shower was sticking up such that one could cut their feet. - Hotel was over a Subway sandwich restaurant, and next to a couple of "adult" facilities. - The room was tiny, but that was the least of the problems.

The Hotel staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful - especially Mr. Kamlesh, who advised us on sites worth seeing and savings! The first room we were in was clean but very small and the A/C was not cooling enough in the summer heat of July, but Mr. Kamlesh moved us to a larger, more comfortable room as soon as one became available. Complimentary breakfast served each morning was most convenient. Times Square, Subways and sights of New York were virtually minutes walk away and we felt safe and secure at all times. The free wi-fi , local phone calls and use of computer on the first floor corridor was appreciated.
The facade was not very inviting and the rooms were small - the bathroom especially. The building is very old and the rooms, carpets and atmosphere reflected this. There was no elevator and the stairs were narrow and steep.
